Psychodynamic Psychotherapy and counselling provides the opportunity for you to discuss concerns or difficulties which may be getting in the way of leading a full life.
It can also be used to discuss feelings which may have been buried but have now surfaced for various reasons. Or for those who want to address specific issues, improve their quality of life, or enhance their overall mental and emotional well-being.
I provide a structured, supportive and safe environment where individuals can talk confidentially and freely. This may lead to greater self awareness and insight, allowing you the possibility of making different choices in your life.
I believe in a holistic approach to mental health, addressing both the mind and body.
Therapy
I have been a registered psychodynamic therapist for over 15 years.
My experience covers working with front-line clinical staff at the London Ambulance Service in the form of brief therapy. As well as 12-session time-limited therapy at WPF. Time-limited (brief) therapy can be very effective when focussing on a specific problem or concern.
I am also experienced in working with those who need a bit more time and want a deeper understanding of how they are feeling. Together we draw links to previous experiences which may have profoundly affected you. Our work will be gentle but challenging. An initial consultation is necessary and will give us a chance to meet and think about a way forward.
Clinical Supervision
I work with trainee therapists as a clinical supervisor for time-limited work.
Workshops
I provide workshops to teach the skills of psychodynamic time-limited therapy. This is based on Mann's 12 session model.

This is suited for adults who want to work on present problems which may be interrupting life and causing pain. We will be able to think about current and previous life experiences and relationships.
An initial assessment is required. The assessment will give us a chance to meet as well as a space for us to think about why you are coming to therapy now. It is also a good time to ask any questions you may have. We will then decide the best way forward for you.
This therapeutic model is intended to work on a specific presenting issue.
We will work on a current concern for (up to) 12 sessions.
This model works well with clients who need to accommodate irregular work-shift patterns.
Walking and talking can sometimes be an easier way to work through what is bothering you. Although we are in an open space, I am always considering confidentiality and your safety.
I walk in all weather.
I offer clinical Supervision to therapists and for therapists in training.

I offer workshops for therapists who want to learn the skills of psychodynamic time-limited therapy. This is based on Mann's 12 session model.

The psychodynamic approach, like psychoanalysis, shares the idea that how we behave now is determined by our past. Psychodynamic therapy believes that in order to cope better and thrive, we need to explore previous relationships and experiences and how they affect our current choices and relationships. In the therapeutic space, clients use the therapist as a instrument to understand themselves. Past and present links are made, often using metaphors, symbolism and creative thinking.
A deeper understanding of who you are and the choices you make.
More resilient under stress and able to respond in healthier ways to conflict.
More connected to your feelings and in relationships with others.
The length of time depends on the individual and the issues being addressed. Some clients may see a shift with brief therapy, while others may prefer longer-term therapy.
There is no need because we come together within the creative therapeutic space to explore how you are feeling.
Absolutely, I am comfortable seeing clients who work shifts and rotas. I will try to find times based on your schedule.
It isn't possible to 'send' someone to therapy. A person needs to come to that decision themselves. However, it is helpful to do some of the leg-work for them by finding appropriate therapists and providing them with these details.
Yes, all sessions are confidential.
I follow the BACP code of ethics and practice
Sessions are weekly.
We can discuss whether you prefer open-ended therapy or prefer a shorter, brief therapy in your initial consultation.
I provide a safe and confidential space where we can explore your concerns. Together, we can talk about how you are feeling and at times make links to previous experiences that may have profoundly affected you.
